Another Example of Religious Hate Speech

On February 8, 2013 I received an email note titled A Tragedy that Needs to be Known. (click to read the chain mail note). It claims

This is a brutal example of how far the struggle between muslims and christians in Nigeria has reached. Muslims are determined to impose their 'religion' all over Africa as well as in other continents.....  

My reaction to the person sending me the note was

That claim is simply a lie whose purpose is to inflame religious hate.  It does not refer to EXTREME Islamic action in the fringes of a religion.  It does not mention that such events are not uncommon in Africa. It throws all the appropriate HATE words: Holocaust, mainstream media, slaughtered by islamic terror only for being Christian. . It’s a “call to arms” for a Christian jihad. It’s an attempt to draw the world into another endless war.

Fortunately, the developing American philosophy recognizes the we have no choice but to take a “wait and see” attitude, even as repulsive as that may seem.  It’s about FINALLY having cooler and more insightful heads prevail in world politics, recognizing they have limits to what can be achieved with the current level of social development of some states that are not yet nations but conglomerations of warring tribes.
