Religion - God

Does God or do Gods exist?

This question has be hypothesized for millennia.  The answer usually depends on who is asking the question and what he or she wants the answer to be.  Initially, the the effort was to prove the existence of a god and more recently the search has been broaden to accept that god may not exist.  Usually people who ask this question are already emotionally tied to what they expect the answer to be.  Some are so committed to their answer that they feel a moral obligation to mount a crusade to force their single mindedness and feel it heresy to even pose the question.  So chances of objectivity are low.  Nevertheless, this essay will try.

Some may cry foul before the analysis begins because the technique is the scientific method and in their mindset God is outside the reach of science.  That might be true, but if it is, the question can't be answered and God does not care to be found.  The question then becomes does something that can't be found exist or does it even matter?

However, it is quite presumptive to assume that science can't find evidence for a God.  Through mathematical formulations science is already reaching beyond what is observable and, in a classical sense, measurable.  Current speculations include string theory, multiple universes, virtual particles, dark energy and matter, entanglement, quantum theory, and our universe before the big bang. So why not God?

Science has long since departed from the notion that everything is deterministic and measurable.  In the early twentieth century, quantum mechanics along with such postulations as the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle, which pronounces that certain known quantities can't be measured, were born and have proven to be science's more successful inventions.

Such experience has made science quite broad minded and willing to look beyond the obvious. Might not God be buried somewhere in the math and only require a willingness to look?

A great summary about the whole topic on the existence of God can be found on Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Existence_of_God  Before proceeding please take the time to broaden your perspective by studying the Wikipedia report.
